THE ART OF CAPTURING LIVE PERFORMANCES
Independent Music Awards Adds Concert Photography Category
TO UPCOMING 8TH ANNUAL PROGRAM
May 19, 2008 The
Independent Music Awards (IMAs) – the awards program for the indie
revolution – has added a Concert Photography category to an
already broad spectrum of honors that span music genres from Heavy Metal to
Gospel; and design categories that also include Music Video, Packaging and
Merchandise.
Now the IMAs
will honor those valiant photographers, who risk life and limb in the pit while
avoiding occupational hazards such as flying objects and flailing bodies, in
order to capture and preserve a live indie performance.
The IMA
Concert Photography category is open to all photographs of a live performance
by an Independent musician or band taken between July 2007 and August 2008.
Program winners are promoted to more than 15 million music fans and industry
insiders via yearlong print, broadcast and online promotions.
Judges for the
8th annual program include: Peter Gabriel,
Roger Daltrey,
, Buddy Guy, George Jones, Keith Urban, Zakk Wylde, Butch Walker, Ice-T;
